General Violence Questionnaire

General Violence Questionnaire (Holtzworth-Munroe, Meehan, Stuart, Herron, & Rehman, 2000) assesses the presence of violence in social interactions with romantic partners, same-gender friends, opposite-gender friends, adult family members, acquaintances at work place, strangers and other acquaintances.

Abstract

The General Violence Questionnaire is a 47-item instrument designed to establish the respondent’s presence of violence in social interactions. This measure was first added to the Fast Track Protocol in study year 19. The questionnaire probes for social interaction with romantic partners, same-gender friends, opposite-gender friends, adult family members, acquaintances at work place, and strangers and other acquaintances not included in the previous list. The questionnaire then measures frequencies of occurrence of violent acts (6 items).

The user is encouraged to test association between items and sample group. Also the user is encouraged to test for differences in means for variables measuring the total number of social relationships.
